blueprintWe’re working towards something here. We’re perfecting our craft. We’re evolving as our art is evolving. We’re sharing our beauty and our wisdom with those who long for it and…we are allowing ourselves to receive the intangible and tangible rewards that this sharing returns to us.

I am the first to admit a failure to value my abilities, but every day I am also opening myself to the possibility that what I have to share is valuable. My goal is to allow myself to be supported by doing what I love and by offering that love to others.

This week I was looking for examples of creative people who have taken what they love doing and have found a way to share their love with the world. Creative business owners and entrepreneurs who have allowed themselves to be rewarded spiritually and financially for their contributions to this wild and amazing world.

PH03166IInstant Gratification: Buying Books Online

Okay most of you know I’m a book fiend. And I like immediate gratification. Which means I’m craving a Kindle, but that is the LAST investment I need to make right now. However, I can get immediate gratification from Audible.com. The only disappointment is that Audible doesn’t carry every book I want. And in order for the service to be worth its subscription, I really should be more consistent about loading my audio books onto my iPod and carrying the iPod with me.

How to Make Your Head Spin

Warning! This post is long because I’m on valium. Read on to find out why.

I want to share some things about this amazing journey of creativity and right-livelihood. I’m going to tell you a story about my first ever just launched acting class in my first ever just rented studio space. The first class was on Saturday, June 20. But I need to travel back in time a bit – all the way back to Thursday, June 18.

Thursday afternoon around 2:40 PM, I was in my office at the day-job and I was talking to our student assistant about this or that. I looked away from him and turned back to my computer and the room began to spin. Spin as in rotate around me in a circular motion! I thought it was a blood sugar issue since I’m not so good about eating when I’m busy. Fine. No biggie.

The Friday Post: Creative Livelihood

Since the acting class is launching this weekend, I’ve thought a lot about right livelihood for artists and creatives.

I love teaching and sharing with other people when I feel I have something to offer. In spite of this, the class isn’t full. I’m barely gonna scrape by to recover my studio expenses which means I need to craft a bigger vision.

So the sites I searched this week have to do with business and marketing and independent living. They have to do with creating a living by doing the work you love. And some of them are focused on the transition from being an employee to owning your own business.
